Central Region
FC Dallas 7, Houston Dynamo 0
It was one-sided affair from the first whistle as FC Dallas kept their perfect Generation adidas Cup alive with a 7-0 route of in-state rival Houston Dynamo. Jesus Ferreira, who tallied twice in Friday's victory, scored four times on Saturday to increase his tournament-leading tally to six. Bryan Reynolds, who also scored twice on Friday, scored his third goal of the tournament putting Dallas on the board just three minutes into the match. Ferreira scored his first of four goals just two minutes later and nearly had a fifth late in the match, but Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Osmar Chavero tipped a well-struck free kick over the crossbar.
Winger Edwin Cerrillo scored his first goal of the tournament in the first half, while defender Nathan Toledo coupled his strong defensive performance with a well-placed header that beat Chavero in the 65th minute. Houston was unable to must much offense against a stout Dallas defense and will look for their first win of the tournament on Monday at 11:30 a.m. CT when they take on Chicago Fire. FC Dallas will conclude the first leg of the GA Cup on Monday at 2 p.m. against host Sporting KC.

Toronto FC 4, Chicago Fire 1
Toronto FC made it two wins out of two with a comfortable 4-1 victory over the Chicago Fire. It was the Ayomide Akinola Show throughout the matchup, with the U.S. Under-17 international tallying three goals and an assist for TFC. In the 15th minute, the 16-year-old raced onto a long ball over the top and outsprinted the Chicago defense and tucked his finish into the corner. Seven minutes later, Akinola turned provider. After dribbling down the left wing, he floated in a cross that Steffen Yeates smashed into the top corner on the volley to make the score 2-0, which is how it would remain at halftime.
After a slow start to the second half, Akinola notched his second of the day in the 65th minute after again escaping behind the Chicago backline. Chicago looked to have made it interesting with just a few minutes remaining when Andrew Akindele knocked home a loose ball in the area, but Akinola completed his hat trick in second-half stoppage time to make the final score 4-1. Toronto improves to 2-0-0 and returns to action against Columbus Crew SC at 9 a.m. on Monday, while Chicago falls to 0-1-1 and will next face the Houston Dynamo at 11:30 a.m. that same day.

Sporting KC 3, Columbus Crew 2
In the primetime match of the day, Sporting Kansas City pulled off an epic 3-2 come-from-behind win over Columbus Crew SC to keep pace in the 2016 Generation adidas Cup Central Region. With the win, Sporting KC has five points, one behind FC Dallas and Toronto FC.
The home side got off to a hot start when Max Rugova converted his penalty kick attempt in the seventh minute for his first goal of the tournament. Similar to Friday, however, the Crew responded well from an early goal allowed and began to control the match. Goalkeeper Alex Brown came up big to stop Maouloune Goumballe in the 15th minute after the Crew SC striker broke free behind the Sporting KC back line.
The second-half featured a back-and-forth affair as Columbus tied the match through Isaiah Parente in the 46th minute before taking the lead in the 60th minute after Colin Biros collected a pass at the top of the box and placed a precise shot to the far corner.
Need one goal to tie and two to win, SKC Academy head coach John Parry made three subs in the final 20 minutes. Those moves paid off in spades as one of those substitutes, Colin Innes, tied the match for Sporting KC in the 67th minute.
Sporting KC continued to push forward and found the game-winner with just five minutes remaining. Mason Visconti, who tallied twice on Friday, cleaned up the rebound after Alec Srodawa did well to stop Jaylin Lindsey's header. Sporting KC nearly added a fourth in the dying minutes, but Srodawa stoned Abdu Kikhia and Visconti's follow-up attempt was cleared off the line.
Sporting KC will conclude the first portion of the GA Cup on Monday at 2 p.m. CT against group leaders FC Dallas. Columbus Crew SC will play their final match in Kansas City on Monday at 9 a.m. against Toronto FC. Both matches will be played on Children's Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village. All GA Cup matches are free and open to the public.
