FOX Sports Kansas City and Sporting KC announce multi-year TV agreement beginning in 2017

FOX Sports Kansas City and Sporting KC

FOX Sports and Sporting Kansas City announced a multi-year agreement on Tuesday that will see FOX Sports Kansas City become the exclusive television home of Sporting KC beginning in 2017.

“Partnering with FOX Sports allows us to expand our viewership throughout the Midwest and deliver a world-class broadcast to all of our fans across the region,” Sporting KC President Jake Reid said. “FOX Sports is a fantastic partner of MLS at the national level, and we are excited to team up with them here in Kansas City, as well.”

All Sporting KC matches not nationally televised during the 2017 MLS season will air on FOX Sports Kansas City, reaching fans in Kansas, Nebraska and western Missouri.

Select Sporting Kansas City matches will also air on FOX Sports Midwest, reaching additional viewers in Missouri and Iowa — including the St. Louis, Des Moines, Springfield and Columbia markets.

“FOX Sports Kansas City is proud to become the new home of Sporting KC,” said FOX Sports Kansas City/Midwest General Manager and Senior Vice President Jack Donovan. “Sporting KC strengthens our programming lineup, and we look forward to helping the organization grow as we deliver games throughout the region.”

In addition, viewers within Sporting KC’s TV footprint who receive FOX Sports Kansas City and FOX Sports Midwest as part of their television subscription will be able to stream Sporting KC telecasts on FOX Sports GO. To stream matches, viewers must verify their credentials by signing in with their pay-TV provider’s user ID and password. FOX Sports GO carries no additional charge and can be accessed with the FOX Sports GO app or at FOXSportsGO.com.

In the FOX Sports Kansas City commentary booth, Nate Bukaty will return for his third season as Sporting KC’s play-by-play announcer. A color analyst and a sideline reporter will be announced at a later date.

FOX Sports Kansas City will air 30-minute pregame and 30-minute postgame shows around all Sporting KC broadcasts. Sporting KC will continue to produce the telecasts, enhanced with FOX Sports’ on-air production elements that are also seen on FS1’s MLS, U.S. National Team and World Cup telecasts.

In the event of FOX Sports scheduling conflicts with Major League Baseball games, Sporting KC matches will air on FOX Sports Kansas City/Midwest Plus, the network’s second channel that is available on nearly all television providers carrying FOX Sports Kansas City/Midwest.

Select Sporting KC telecasts will be televised nationally as Major League Soccer enters the third season of an eight-year broadcasting deal with FOX Sports, ESPN and Univision.
