Tim Melia's crucial penalty kick save vs D.C. United in Saturday's season opener has been nominated for MLS Save of the Week.
After conceding the penalty kick, Melia responded with a diving save to his right and was quick on his feet to deny the follow-up attempt from Patrick Mullins. Along with the 17th minute stop, Melia made five saves had nine recoveries.
The other nominees this week are D.C. United's Bill Hamid, New York's Luis Robles, Orlando City's Joe Bendik, and Chicago's Jorge Bava. Voting is open through Thursday evening.
