Jaylin Lindsey, a member of the Sporting Kansas City Academy U-16's, was named to the United States Under-15 Boys' National Team on Wednesday for an 11-day training camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina from June 4-14. The 20-player roster is led by head coach John Hackworth and will play the following three South American opponents in international friendlies during the training camp: Uruguay (June 8), Argentina (June 10) and Paraguay (June 12).
"It is always an important experience for our young players to compete against the South America soccer powers of Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay," Hackworth said. “Perhaps just as important is also the valuable learning experience of playing in such an amazing soccer culture as Argentina. The history, passion and environment will undoubtedly provide our team a unique opportunity."
Lindsey -- who recently completed his freshman year at Blue Valley West High School after moving from Charlotte, North Carolina -- debuted with the U.S. U-15's last December and will now be attending his third camp of 2015 at the age level. In March, he was part of the U.S. U-15's first training camp of the year in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and returned to the squad for the Tournament delle Nazioni in Italy from April 25-May 1. The U.S. U-15's defeated Austria 3-2 in the championship to win the competition for the first time with Lindsey appearing in all five matches.
The 15-year-old has been a part of the U.S. Soccer youth national team system since September 2013, previously representing the U.S. U-14’s on five occasions. He appeared in nine matches for the Sporting Kansas City Academy U-16's during the 2014-15 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, scoring in a 5-2 victory over the San Antonio Scorpions and a 7-2 victory over Andromeda FC.
After returning from Argentina, Lindsey and the Sporting KC Academy U-16's will compete at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Showcase from June 22-25 in Westfield, Indiana.
