Alan Pulido joins Chiefs Kingdom for Super Bowl in Tampa

Alan Pulido at Super Bowl - Sporting KC - KC Chiefs

It's safe to say that Sporting striker Alan Pulido has embraced Kansas City with open arms.

Arriving to the City of Fountains on a club-record transfer fee in December of 2019, Pulido instantly adopted the Kansas City Chiefs as his NFL team of choice. Less than a week after settling into the city, the Mexican forward descended on snowy Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs' wild playoff win over the Texans—a win that preceded Kansas City's epic Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers last February.

This time around, Pulido went a step further by attending one of the biggest sporting events in the World. The 29-year-old was one of roughly 25,000 fans at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa as the Chiefs fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV on Sunday.

In addition to finding Kansas City fandom off the pitch, Pulido has shown his undeniable quality as a polished attacker between the white lines. He hit team-highs with seven goals and five assists last season despite missing almost half of the abbreviated campaign due to injuries and international duty with Mexico. Pulido was one of three finalists for MLS Newcomer of the Year and figures to be an instrumental piece for Manager Peter Vermes' side as clubs prepare for the 2021 campaign, which is expected to begin in early April.
