For a third time in the past month, Sporting Kansas City forward Alan Pulido was selected to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi on Monday for Matchday 24 of the 2023 MLS regular season.Â
The 32-year-old Mexican striker continued his sensational summer surge with both goals in Sporting Kansas City's 2-2 draw at the Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday. Pulido opened the scoring in the 25th minute at Shell Energy Stadium with a clinical chip past the outrushing goalkeeper then calmly converted a penalty in the 62nd minute to become the second player in club history to score twice in back-to-back regular season road matches.
Pulido now has a team-best 11 goals in all competitions this season - including nine goals in the past seven games - and the Designated Player is tied for third in the MLS Golden Boot race. In his MLS career, Pulido has 24 goals and 11 assists in 51 appearances and he ranks first in club history (minimum 20 appearances) with 0.47 goals per game in the regular season.
Sporting Kansas City will next host Real Salt Lake at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday at Children's Mercy Park. Tickets are available online at SeatGeek, including the Bud Light Easy to Enjoy Pack featuring a ticket, a hot dog and a Bud Light for only $30 as well as the Sporting U Pass providing $15 tickets in the Supporters' Stand for college students.
The Western Conference clash will be broadcast on Apple TV in English and Spanish for MLS Season Pass subscribers (sign up for a one-month free trial). In addition, local radio coverage will air on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM with streams in the Sporting KC app and all of the action will be shown by pub partners in the Sporting Pub Network.
