Western Conference leaders Sporting Kansas City entered Saturday wielding a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions against a Montreal Impact side seeking its fourth shutout win in five games.
In a matchup of two hot teams, form abandoned the visitors as Montreal snapped their six-game winless drought against Sporting KC and brought an end to their undefeated two-month-long undefeated streak. Ignacio Piatti opened the scoring on 54 minutes before Alejandro Silva sealed the result with a 70th-minute spot kick.
So where does Sporting KC's nine-game run without a loss stack up all-time? It's the sixth-longest streak in club history, falling four matches short of tying the record set in 2012 and 2017.
