With wins in four of the club's last six matches, Sporting Kansas City will now prepare for one of its biggest battles of the season: a showdown with archrivals St. Louis City SC on Saturday at world-class Children's Mercy Park. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT with tickets available at SeatGeek.com and live coverage on FS1, Apple TV, Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM.
After enduring a spring and early summer, Sporting has found its footing in recent weeks by advancing to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinals and moving within seven points of the playoff line in the ultra-competitive Western Conference. Their cross-state rivals, meanwhile, have dropped three straight games and fallen below Sporting in the table after winning just once since mid-May. The winner of Saturday's contest could take a big step forward in garnering momentum ahead of Leagues Cup and the final stretch of the 2024 MLS campaign.
With palpable excitement surrounding Saturday's fixture, we take a statistical look at the matchup in our newest edition of By The Numbers, presented by Compass Minerals.
