Sixteen games. Nine wins. Twenty-eight goals. And it all come to a head on Sunday.
Sporting Kansas City hosts the San Jose Earthquakes tomorrow in the final match of the regular season. A win and Sporting KC is guaranteed a sixth consecutive playoff appearance. A draw or a loss and the club’s fate will depend on other results from the weekend.
Sunday’s match also expects to be the 87th consecutive MLS sellout at Children’s Mercy Park. Limited tickets are available and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the Children’s Mercy Park Box Office on gameday.
In honor of the final regular season match of the year, Sporting Kansas City will host Fan Appreciation Day featuring a full day’s worth of activities to honor the best fans in Major League Soccer.
The fun starts at 11:30 a.m. when we open the Sprint Plaza early for an All For the City Tailgate. 2 Guys and a Grill will cater the tailgate featuring $10 all you can eat hamburgers, chicken, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad and chips. We will also have a big screen TV on the Plaza for fans who want to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the New Orleans Saints at 12 p.m. You’ll want to bring the whole family as we’ll have yard games for fans of all ages with a musical performance from School of Rock during commercial breaks and at the end of each quarter.
If you are stuffing yourself with hamburgers and hot dogs, we imagine you’ll be thirsty as well. That’s why we are offering 50% off beer, water and soda from 11:30 a.m. until kickoff on the Plaza and in the Boulevard Members Club.
The first 16,000 fans through the gates will take home a team poster, courtesy of Park University and if you’re looking for a new jersey, you’ll want to be at the game on Sunday. All three jerseys will be marked down 50% at all Sporting Style locations. That deal is valid for Sunday only.

The event is free and open to fans of all ages. Food and drink will be available to purchase for guests at the watch party. In addition, Swope Park Rangers merchandise will be sold by Sporting Style and the team's Western Conference Championship trophy will be on site for photo opportunities.
