SportingKC.com's "Countdown to the Cup" series started 30 days prior to the Sept. 30 championship between Sporting KC and the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park, which means today marks the halfway point: 15 days down, 15 days to go.
Today's spotlight shines on the top five moments in Sporting Kansas City's run to the 2015 U.S. Open Cup Final, a journey which began 13 weeks ago today with a 1-0 victory over St. Louis FC on June 16 in what was the first of four straight single-elimination U.S. Open Cup matches at Sporting Park. Each round brought Sporting KC closer to a third U.S. Open Cup title in club history and each match brought record-setting crowds that saw no shortage of big plays and performances.
