Sporting Kansas City forward Daniel Salloi was selected to MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi on Monday for Matchday 12 of the 2023 MLS regular season. In addition, Sporting KC defender Dany Rosero was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday bench for his game-winning goal and strong defensive performance in Sporting Kansas City's 3-0 win over Minnesota United FC.
Salloi contributed a goal, as well as the game-winning assist for Rosero, in Saturday's victory at Children's Mercy Park. His in-swinging corner kick in the ninth minute was met by Rosero, who headed home the set piece service for his first MLS goal and the 21st goal of his professional career.
Salloi then doubled Sporting's advantage in the 22nd minute with a first-time finish off a backheel from Remi Walter, curling in a right-footed shot past Minnesota goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.
Salloi, who has scored (three) or assisted (four) on seven of Sporting’s 11 goals this season in all competitions, has become the sixth player in club history to eclipse 40 career goals in regular season play. The 26-year-old Hungarian now has 66 combined goals (40) and assists (26) in the regular season, tying Dom Dwyer for eighth most in club history.
Riding back-to-back wins in the MLS regular season, Sporting Kansas City returns to the road this week for two highly-anticipated away matches. Sporting Kansas City will first travel to the West Coast to face reigning MLS Cup champions LAFC at 9:39 p.m. CT on Wednesday at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles before heading to St. Louis for the first-ever match-up with arch rivals St. Louis CITY SC at 8:55 p.m. CT on Saturday at CITYPARK.
Both Western Conference clashes will be streamed live on Apple TV with the mid-week match exclusively available to MLS Season Pass subscribers and Saturday's cross-state showdown available free for all fans along with national television broadcasts on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Local radio coverage for both matches will also air on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM with streams available in the Sporting KC App.
