Sporting Kansas City forward Daniel Salloi's sensational long-range goal in the 13th minute of last night's 3-1 win at FC Dallas is one of four nominees for AT&T MLS Goal of the Week.
Salloi's signature strike -- one of two goals in the game for the 25-year-old MLS MVP candidate -- is up against goals from Real Salt Lake's Anderson Juliao, Toronto FC's Jacob Shaffelburg and FC Cincinnati's Ronald Matarrita. Fans can cast their vote in the Twitter poll below between now and Friday.
Salloi, who was honored with MLS Player of the Week recognition today for his two-goal performance, has 15 goals and six assists this year, the third most goal contributions in the league. His 15 goals also rank third best in MLS, two shy of Ola Kamara in the race for the MLS Golden Boot presented by Audi with seven games remaining in the regular season campaign.
Notably, Salloi’s 15 non-penalty goals are most in Major League Soccer, two more than any other player, and the Hungarian international is now on the cusp of breaking two records: most non-penalty goals by a Homegrown Player in a single season (16 set by Gyasi Zardes) in MLS history and most non-penalty goals by a Sporting KC player in a single season (16 set by Dom Dwyer).
With 15 goals in 25 appearances, Salloi currently sits fourth on the club’s single-season goal scoring chart and his 30 career MLS regular season goals are 10th most in team history.
