Daniel Salloi starts as Hungary falls 3-0 to Belgium in UEFA Euro Under-21 Championship qualification

Daniel Salloi - Hungary U-21 vs. Belgium U-21

Sporting KC striker Daniel Salloi picked up his fourth cap with the Hungary Under-21 National Team on Monday, playing the opening 51 minutes of a 3-0 defeat to group-leaders Belgium in UEFA Euro Under-21 Championship qualification at Den Dreef Stadium in Leuven, Belgium.

It became an uphill task for the Hungarians early on when Bence Toth was shown a straight red card in the 10th minute, forcing his side to play the remainder of the match a man down.

Salloi battled the Belgian defense without much support before being withdrawn early in the second half for Norbert Balogh. Belgium cruised to victory on the night with a first-half goal from Siebe Schrijvers supplemented by Dodi Lukebakio's strike and a Nany Dimata penalty after the break.

The defeat saw Hungary slip to third place in Group 6, trailing Sweden on goal difference in second and group-leaders Belgium by six points. Salloi, who was three assists in his last two games for Sporting KC, will now return to Kansas City and is set to be available for selection for Saturday’s match with D.C. United at Children’s Mercy Park.
