Six years ago today, Sporting Kansas City put on a passing clinic for the ages.

Paulo Nagamura's first-half goal was bookended by a Dom Dwyer brace in a comprehensive 3-0 road win over the Montreal Impact on May 10, 2014, but it was a Sporting midfielder who grabbed the headlines on this sunny Saturday afternoon in Quebec.

Fresh off a breakout 2013 campaign as Sporting's lynchpin No. 6, Uri Rosell had kept the momentum rolling into 2014 and passed Montreal into oblivion. The Spanish midfielder completed a staggering 158 of 164 passes throughout the match, both of which still stand as MLS single-game records since the Opta era began in 2010.

As a team, Sporting completed 745 of 812 passes against a hopeless Montreal side that played a man down after Collen Warner was sent off in the 17th minute for a deliberate handball near the goal line. Those totals stood as all-time MLS records for an Opta era match until 2017.

Incredibly enough, Dwyer struck twice in all three regular season meetings against Montreal in 2014, all of which resulted in Sporting victories. From 2014-216, the Englishman scored an astonishing nine goals in six MLS appearances versus the Impact.
