  • Sporting Kansas City defeated FC Dallas 6-2 on Wednesday night in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. 
  • With the victory, Sporting KC will host the Houston Dynamo in the quarterfinals of the tournament on July 21.
  • The Dynamo defeated the Colorado Rapids 1-0 on Tuesday night to advance to the quarterfinals. 
  • Sporting KC is undefeated at Sporting Park in 2015 and extended their home winning streak to seven with Wednesday's victory. 
  • During that span, Sporting KC has five shutouts and has outscored opponents 19-4.
  • Dom Dwyer scored four goals on Wednesday becoming the first player in Sporting KC history to score four goals in a match.
  • Dwyer's first goal came in the fifth minute using his head. Benny Feilhaber earned the assist, his second in USOC play this season and 11th in all competition.
  • Dwyer doubled the lead for Sporting KC with another header goal also assisted by Feilhaber.
  • With three assists on Wednesday, Feilhaber has recorded at least one assist in four straight games across all competition. 
  • Dwyer scored his third goal by converting a penalty kick in the 41st minute becoming the first Sporting KC player to score a hat-trick in the first half of a match.
  • The last player to score a hat trick for Sporting KC was Birahim Diop on October 23, 2010.
  • Dwyer's hat trick is also the first in Sporting Park history. 
  • Krisztian Nemeth scored Sporting KC's fourth goal on Wednesday and the team entered the halftime intermission leading FC Dallas 4-0.
  • Jacob Peterson earned the assist on Nemeth's first goal.
  • Sporting KC has only led 4-0 at halftime twice in team history - June 20, 1999 (6-0 W vs NY) and June 20, 1996 (5-1 W vs DC).
  • Nemeth tallied his second goal in the 59th minute, chipping the ball over FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz.

  • Dwyer's fourth goal came in the 70th minute of play from a free kick that he bent over the FC Dallas wall and past Seitz in net.

  • A sold-old crowd of 19,113 at Sporting Park witnessed Sporting KC tie their all-time club record with six goals in a game. 
  • Sporting KC made three changes to the starting lineup from their last match with Jacob Peterson starting in place of Graham Zusi (international duty), Amadou Dia in for Marcel de Jong (international duty) and Jalil Anibaba on for Chance Myers.
  • The start was Peterson's 50th career start for Sporting KC in all competitions.
  • Wednesday marked the third competitive meeting in 2015 between Sporting KC and FC Dallas. FC Dallas won 3-1 at home on March 14 and Sporting KC won 4-0 at Sporting Park on May 29.
  • There has been just one previous Sporting KC versus FC Dallas meeting in U.S. Open Cup history. Sporting KC won 4-0 in the 2004 quarterfinals en route to their first U.S. Open Cup title.
  • Wednesday's Sporting KC versus FC Dallas game was the only Round of 16 matchup between two previous U.S. Open Cup champs. Sporting KC won in 2004 and 2012, Dallas won in 1997.
