The dashing run. The clever split. The clinical finish.
Of the 24 goals scored throughout Week 6 of the 2018 MLS season, none were better than Johnny Russell's spectacular solo effort that sealed Sporting Kansas City's 2-0 win over the LA Galaxy on Sunday night.
Russell officially captured his first AT&T MLS Goal of the Week honor on Thursday. His deft strike after beating two LA defenders took home 46 percent of the vote, edging the 40-percent push for Orlando City SC striker Dom Dwyer. The 28-year-old's second goal of the season came five minutes after Daniel Salloi had fired Sporting KC into a 1-0 lead at StubHub Center.

Russell and Sporting Kansas City are unbeaten in five straight matches since dropping their season opener, rattling off four wins and a draw since March 10 to take first place in the Western Conference. Following Sunday's triumph in LA, Russell was named to the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week while goalkeeper Tim Melia, who made a career-high and club-record 10 saves, was selected Alcatel MLS Player of the Week.
