Sporting Kansas City midfielder Gadi Kinda was selected to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi on Monday for Matchday 22 of the 2023 MLS regular season. In addition, midfielder Remi Walter was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday bench after the dynamic duo combined to open the scoring in Sporting Kansas City's 3-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Kinda and Walter connected in the 33rd minute of Saturday's Western Conference clash at Children's Mercy Park with what would ultimately prove to be the game-winning goal. Kinda received a pass inside Sporting's own half of the field before the Israeli international skillfully evaded multiple tacklers and clipped a pass with the outside of his right foot into the path of Walter. The Frenchman took care of the rest, holding off a challenge from the Whitecaps defender and lifting his shot into the back of the net for Sporting's 450th goal at Children's Mercy Park in all competitions.
"I'm very happy to score my first goal this season. It helped the team to get the first goal in the game so I'm very happy for that. And then we won the game, so that's good," Walter said postgame. "I know Gadi is a very technical player. I saw the space between the two defenders so I hoped he would play that ball. It was a good pass and a good finish."
"That's my number 10 right there," Sporting KC forward Daniel Salloi said when asked about Kinda's performance. "I love this guy. I think he's a really good player. I'm glad that he's doing well after a long injury. It was an amazing assist, but an unbelievable finish too from Remi with his weak foot to chip it like that. Amazing."
Sporting Kansas City will next travel to Texas to take on Houston Dynamo FC at 7:30 p.m. CT this Saturday at Shell Energy Stadium. Saturday's showdown will be broadcast free on Apple TV in English and Spanish in addition to local radio coverage on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM with streams in the Sporting KC app. All of the action will also be shown by pub partners in the Sporting Pub Network, including an enhanced watch party at Westport Ale House (4128 Broadway Blvd.).
