Sporting Kansas City defeated the Philadelphia Union 1-1 (7-6 on penalty kicks) to win the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. After conceding a 23rd minute goal by the Union's Sebastien Le Toux, Sporting KC leveled the match at 1-1 with a 65th minute Krisztian Nemeth. The match remained tied at 1-1 through 90 minutes and both periods of extra time. Sporting KC would prevail in the 7-6 in the penalty kick shoout with midfielder Jordi Quintilla scoring the deciding penalty kick.
