Compass Minerals and The Victory Project are partnering to further the goal of Soccer for All Kids with the launch of a youth soccer scholarship program benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.
Compass Minerals, a First Team Partner of Sporting Kansas City and the club’s official plant nutrition and salt provider, will fully fund multiple recreational soccer teams consisting of local children from Boys & Girls Clubs. The soccer teams will feature boys and girls from Pre-K through 2nd grade and compete in the Sporting Recreation League at Compass Minerals Sporting Fields in Kansas City, Kansas, and Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex in Olathe, Kansas.
“At Compass Minerals, we know that inclusion is essential. When we demonstrate that everyone has a voice and every voice matters, it makes our company and our communities stronger,” said Kevin S. Crutchfield, Compass Minerals President and CEO. “Providing opportunities for children who wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to participate aligns with our commitment to diversity, belonging, inclusion and equity. Soccer for All Kids will help these children develop character, teamwork and leadership skills, and perhaps most importantly after the past year, it provides a safe place for social interactions.”
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our organizations to align core beliefs and passions to positively impact the lives of children here in our community,” said Dr. Dred Scott, President & CEO at Boys & Girls Clubs. “The involvement of youth in athletics including those like soccer which provide team-minded programming is instrumental to ensure growth of their overall health, wellness and development. We could not be more honored and look forward to the sustainability of this partnership for future generations.”
The Victory Project and Compass Minerals have proudly announced the new platform as part of “A Force for Good,” a community campaign established in March that sees The Victory Project grow its commitment to helping children while joining forces with partners to meet crucial community needs.
A primary component of “A Force for Good” is Soccer for All Kids, representing the push to make the sport more accessible to children with limited financial resources. This includes working with partners, non-profits, schools and other entities to bring soccer programs to kids who have not had access to these athletic opportunities before.
The Victory Project started supporting the initiative earlier this year when the Boys & Girls Clubs began holding flag football games and practices on turf fields at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri.
