Injury Report: Sporting KC readies for Colorado Rapids clash relatively unscathed

Injury Report presented by Children's Mercy Sports Medicine Center - July 9, 2020

Injury Report is SportingKC.com’s look at the latest injury news ahead of upcoming matches and is presented by The Sports Medicine Center at Children's Mercy. All injuries listed are from the teams' official injury reports submitted prior to matchday.

Sporting Kansas City continues Group D play in the MLS is Back Tournament with a clash against the Colorado Rapids tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and the ESPN app.

Sporting has a relatively clean bill of health heading into the match, as only Andreu Fontas (quad) and Felipe Gutierrez (knee surgery) will miss the game through injury. Both players remained in Kansas City when the rest of the squad jetted down to Orlando on July 5.

There’s only one name on the Rapids’ injury report, as Olathe, Kansas native Kortne Ford is out with a knee injury. Despite not being listed on the club’s official injury report, head coach Robin Fraser told the media earlier in the week that goalkeeper Clint Irwin may miss the game due to a head injury.

Sporting KC will round out Group D play against Real Salt Lake next Wednesday, July 22 with a rare and unique 8 a.m. CT kickoff.
