Interview

Jake Davis and John Pulskamp reflect on Olympics in new edition of Behind the Shield presented by Audi

New in 2024, Behind the Shield presented by Audi will be available after every match week this season with the video series - produced by Sporting Kansas City's full-time digital storytellers - providing fans with an immersive viewing experience highlighted by exclusive interviews and all-access footage from Sporting Kansas City players, trainings and matchdays.

This week's BTS -- which can be seen on SportingKC.com, Sporting Kansas City's YouTube channel and MLS Season Pass on Apple TV -- shines the spotlight on goalkeeper John Pulskamp and Jake Davis after the duo returned from France as members of the U.S. Men's Olympic Soccer Team.

"The Olympics, in particular, have always been a dream of mine," Pulskamp said. "My grandfather, who I was named after, competed in the 1960 Olympics in weightlifting where he placed fourth. Ever since I was a child, knowing that, it was something that was always in my head. I wanted to be like my grandpa. I wanted to be the next generation in the family of going and competing in the Olympics."

"It was a pretty proud moment," said Davis, who was reunited with former Sporting KC teammate Gianluca Busio on the American squad. "It's pretty cool that my best friend and I were competing at the Olympics together. Not many people can say that."

Sporting Kansas City will resume the MLS regular season next Saturday, Aug. 24 with a cross-conference clash against Orlando City SC at Children's Mercy Park in the MLS regular season (tickets), followed in short succession by a highly-anticipated home match against Indy Eleven on Tuesday, Aug. 27 in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals (tickets).
