Sporting Kansas City midfielder Jake Davis was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi on Monday as one of the top 20 players in Major League Soccer for Matchday 29 of the regular season.

Davis struck for the game-winning goal -- his first career goal for the club at Children's Mercy Park -- and added an assist while also covering the most ground of any player in Sporting's 3-0 victory over Orlando City SC on Saturday.

The 22-year-old Sporting KC Academy product earned the praise of Manager Peter Vermes in his first MLS appearance since returning from France as part of the U.S. Men's Olympic Soccer Team.

"Jake (Davis) and (Zorhan) Bassong together in the midfield, they were workhorses," Peter Vermes told media postgame. "And because they're doing what they do, it helps everybody else also in the game. That was a big part of our success today, those two guys."

Davis now has seven goal involvements in 2024 with three goals and four assists across all competitions while splitting time at right back and central midfield.

Sporting Kansas City will play for a berth in the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final when the team takes on USL Championship side Indy Eleven at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday at Children's Mercy Park in the semifinal round of U.S. Soccer's national championship.

Tickets are available via SeatGeek with all fees waived and fans can also take advantage of the Coca-Cola Friends & Family Four Pack featuring four tickets, four Coca-Cola products and four nachos for only $100.

The cup clash will be free to watch on Apple TV via MLS Season Pass and pub partners in the Sporting Pub Network will also show all of the action. In addition, radio coverage will air on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM with live audio streams in the Sporting KC App.
