Sporting KC Homegrown defender Jaylin Lindsey and Academy midfielder Grayson Barber have each been named to the United Soccer Coaches Youth Boys All-America Team.
Lindsey, who signed a Homegrown contract with Sporting KC in September that will begin on January 1, 2018, has spent the majority of 2017 with the U.S. Under-17 National Team. He helped the side finish as runners-up at the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship - earning tournament Best XI honors in the process - which clinched a berth in the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Lindsey started all three group games at the U-17 World Cup, helping the U.S. advance to the Round of 16 with wins over hosts India and Ghana and a loss to Colombia. The 17-year-old suffered a concussion and missed the remainder of the tournament as the U.S. were eliminated by eventual champions England at the Quarterfinal stage.
Barber, who spent much of late 2016 and early 2017 alongside Lindsey at the U.S. Under-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida, returned to Kansas City for the 2017-18 USSDA season and has made seven appearances for the Under-19 squad to date. The U-19s currently sit in first place in the Frontier Division with a 6-2-0 record, tied on 2.25 points per game alongside the Colorado Rapids U-19s.
In addition to earning All-America Team honors, Lindsey was also named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Youth Boys All-Midwest Region Team while Barber was named to the All-South Region Team. Three other members of the Sporting KC Academy were also named to the All-Midwest Region Team: Homegrown striker Gianluca Busio, Cameron Duke and Gabe Kash.
