It's a yearly tradition for each offseason. As new players come to Sporting KC, each player has the option of selecting the number they will wear that coming season. Current players also have the option to switch their numbers if another one opens up. With nine new players on the roster for this coming season - including Igor Juliao who spent 2014 with Sporting KC - the jersey numbers are now set for all 27 players on the roster.
The only change from 2016 to 2017 is that Chilean striker Diego Rubio has switched from No. 9 to No. 11. That number was previously worn by Brad Davis who retired following the 2016 season. That left No. 9 open which was snapped up by new Ghanaian striker Latif Blessing.
Sporting KC's new Designated Player, Gerso Fernandes, will wear No. 7 this year, a number worn by Chance Myers from 2010-2016.
