Sporting Kansas City Captain Johnny Russell was named to the FIFA22 MLS Ultimate Team of the Season, earning his own 91 rated Team of the Season Card in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. He joins a group of 11 MLS stars that shined in the 2021 MLS season.
Russell earned the honors after a record-breaking 2021 season and a hot start to Sporting's 2022 campaign. The Sporting KC offensive player of the year fired home an MLS career-high 15 goals and assisted on eight goals. His stretch of eight straight matches with a goal paced the MLS in 2021 and pushed him past John Spencer as the highest-scoring Scottish-born player in MLS history.
With no signs of cooling down, Russell has scored four MLS regular season goals and bagged a brace in Sporting's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 win over the Houston Dynamo.
Russell and Sporting KC will be back in action at Children's Mercy Park on Sunday, June 12 against the reigning Supporters' Shield holders, New England Revolution.
