KC Mag names SKC Best Hometown Team

Sporting Kansas City was awarded Best Hometown Team at KC Magazine's City's Best Awards last Friday. The awards were presented at The Gallery located in the Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City. KC Magazine selected winners in each of 45 categories, with representatives in attendance from Kansas City's greatest amenities ranging from jewelers to eateries.

Sporting Kansas City was nominated for Best Hometown Team along with fellow professional sports teams in the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs and Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals. Sporting Kansas City was also up against the Women’s Roller Derby, the Kansas City T-bones (independent professional baseball) and the Missouri Mavericks (Central Hockey League).

Sporting Kansas City’s Teal Bunbury accepted the award on behalf of his teammates and even broke out a few dance moves as he made his way onto the stage. The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup was also in attendance at the City's Best Party, with many guests having their photos taken with the Cup.

Bunbury didn’t want to miss all the fun, so he made sure to take his turn posing with the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the photo booth at the event.
