Local Boys and Girls Club to benefit from Every Save Makes a Difference community program

Tim Melia

Sporting Kansas City has selected the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City's Wyandotte County location as tonight's benficiary for the Every Save Makes a Difference community program. MLS WORKS, Allstate Insurance Company and Univision Deportes launched the initiative to support all MLS markets in conjunction with every match broadcast on Univision, UniMas or Univision Deportes Network during the 2015 season.

HOW TO WATCH: #SKCvDAL at 8pm CT tonight

For every save Sporting Kansas City makes during tonight's match, $500 worth of soccer equipment will be donated to local youth who attend the Boys and Girls Club location at 1240 Troup Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City provides a safe environment for kids to learn, play, grow and meet new friends through year-round curriculum and programming.
Using the Allstate Official Saves Tracker, Univision Deportes broadcasters will announce the total amount raised at the end of tonight's match. Sporting Kansas City will then personally deliver the donation next week. To date, the
Every Save Makes a Difference
campaign has contributed nearly $45,000 worth of soccer equipment to various groups across the country.
“The success of MLS is driven by the passion and support of our fans and we believe it is extremely important to show our appreciation by giving back to the local communities,” said JoAnn Neale, Chief Administrative Officer of Major League Soccer. “Through the
Every Save Makes a Difference
campaign we are pleased to continue supporting our communities by further encouraging young fans to live a healthy lifestyle and to stay active through the sport we all love.”
Sporting Kansas City has previously teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City through the Sporting Club Network and The Victory Project. In March, Sporting KC and captain Matt Besler hosted a
STEM in Sports clinic in conjunction with Time Warner Cable
for children from another area Boys and Girls Club. Last month, a
Recycle Your Game mini-clinic was held on Earth Day
in which Boys and Girls Club participants received soccer equipment and took part in a clinic with Sporting KC players/staff.
