Heading to the Sporting match this weekend at Children’s Mercy Park? "Match Guide” is a weekly web series that tells supporters everything they have to look forward to when they arrive at the stadium. This matchday companion will give the lowdown on unique fan opportunities, giveaways, food and beverage deals, SportingStyle specials and other perks for guests in attendance.
Make no mistake, this isn’t your average home opener. Sporting Kansas City fans will be in for a proper treat on Saturday when they arrive to Children’s Mercy Park for a long-awaited and highly anticipated showdown with rivals Houston Dynamo. But before we dive into what supporters can look forward to on matchday, take note that a limited number of tickets for the Western Conference clash, including standing-room only tickets, are available at SeatGeek.com while supplies last.
With that in mind, let’s see what the Children’s Mercy Park experience has in store on Saturday.
Welcome the Players
For the first time ever, a limited number of fans will have the opportunity to greet Sporting players when they arrive to the stadium on Saturday. As space permits, supporters are invited to gather on the east side of Children’s Mercy Park along France Family Drive, just outside of the Sporting Bay, and players are expected to arrive between 5:15-5:45 p.m. CT. Please note that fans who have already scanned their tickets and entered through the stadium gates cannot attend player arrivals and gain re-entry.
Rally Towels and Matchday Programs
The first 10,000 fans through the stadium gates on Saturday will receive a free rally towel courtesy of match sponsor UMB Bank. Limited-edition match programs will also be distributed to fans upon entry, featuring a collectable souvenir ticket to celebrate the occasion.
STM Panel Signing
Season Ticket Members who didn’t attend the season kickoff event at the J. Rieger Distillery on Feb. 19 will have the exclusive opportunity to visit the STM tent on the Toyota Plaza before kickoff and sign a commemorative panel that will ultimately be hung at the northwest corner of the stadium concourse, above the Championship Wall and below the Victory Suite.
SportingStyle Gift Cards
All fans who place pre-orders for the new secondary jersey at SportingStyle.com will receive a $20 SportingStyle gift card when they pick up their order Saturday on the Toyota Plaza. Additionally, those who buy their new secondary kit at a SportingStyle location on matchday will get a $10 SportingStyle gift card.
SeatGeek Schedule Magnets
Sporting KC schedule magnets will also be available upon exit at the end of the night, giving supporters the perfect decal for their refrigerators at home.
Post-match Victory Celebrations
Fingers crossed for a three-point Saturday. Sporting’s post-match victory celebrations will feature the return of the confetti cannon and beer specials in the Budweiser Brew House. If Sporting beats Houston this weekend, fans can enjoy 12-oz. Michelob Ultras for just $3. Oh, and let’s not forget about the return of roof fireworks every single home match at Children’s Mercy Park.
