New edition of Behind the Shield presented by Audi shines spotlight on storied career of Roger Espinoza

New in 2024, Behind the Shield presented by Audi will be available after every match week this season with the video series - produced by Sporting Kansas City's full-time digital storytellers - providing fans with an immersive viewing experience highlighted by exclusive interviews and all-access footage from Sporting Kansas City players, trainings and matchdays.

This week's BTS -- which can be seen on SportingKC.com, Sporting Kansas City's YouTube channel and MLS Season Pass on Apple TV -- captures the sights and sounds from the club's 2-0 win over Austin FC at Children's Mercy Park on Saturday and also features a special focus on former Sporting KC midfielder Roger Espinoza following his retirement from professional soccer.

"Dream wise, this was it," Espinoza says. "But in reality -- when you're out there and seeing the ups and downs -- some days you thought your career was over and other days you were so high until you got brought back down to earth...But in my dream, this is exactly what I dreamt - and a little beyond that too."

Sporting Kansas City is back on the road tonight to face the Colorado Rapids in a Fourth of July match-up. Kickoff is set for 8:40 p.m. CT at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado and the Western Conference clash will be available to watch on Apple TV for MLS Season Pass subscribers.

Radio coverage will air locally on Sports Radio 810 WHB in English and La Grande 1340 AM in Spanish with live audio streams in the Sporting KC App. In addition, pub partners in the Sporting Pub Network will also show all of the action including a watch party at No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power and Light District with food and drink specials for fans.
