Sporting Kansas City is bringing back “Oh Say Can you Sing”, a contest designed to give fans an opportunity to sing the national anthem at a Sporting Kansas City home match during the 2015 season.
This year, fans will have two opportunities to win including an on-stage audition at the Kansas City Power and Light District ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final. We can’t think of a better way to cap off Fourth of July weekend than watching the U.S. Women’s National Team aim to hoist the World Cup trophy.

The U.S. was eliminated by Japan in the 2011 World Cup final and Sunday marks the third consecutive time these two teams have met in the final of a major tournament. Most recently, the U.S. defeated Japan to secure gold at the 2012 London Olympics.
On Sunday, the U.S. WNT has a chance at redemption. The match kicks off at 6 p.m. CT and will be shown live on the big screen at KC Live! in the Power and Light District.
In 2014, we had nearly one thousand entries for ‘Oh Say Can You Sing,’ with one winner earning the grand prize, the opportunity to sing the National Anthem before a sold-out crowd at Sporting Park.
Here is how you can enter this year’s contest. To perform live at the Kansas City Power & Light District, be sure to attend the Women’s World Cup watch party on Sunday. Sports Radio 810 WHB host and SKCTV commentator Nate Bukaty will be emceeing the event and will select several lucky contestants to perform on stage. The crowd will determine their favorite performance and this person will be considered for a chance to sing the National Anthem at Sporting Park. To enter to perform on Sunday, look for the Fiery Stick table at Power & Light which will be located next to the stage near Gordon Biersch.
To enter the competition online, upload a video of yourself singing the national anthem on Youtube and email the clip to Anthem@SportingKC.com. Please note: if you film your submission on a cellular device, turn your phone horizontally. The winner will sing the National Anthem at Sporting Park on August 1 when Sporting KC hosts the Houston Dynamo.
