The 15 Day Countdown has come, and gone as tomorrow is the day we have all been waiting for when Sporting Kansas City returns to Children’s Mercy Park. Throughout this countdown, we have looked at the entirety of Sporting’s roster, recapped a busy offseason, highlighted some upcoming milestones, and took a glimpse at Sporting’s success in home openers.
Today, because MLS is back at Children’s Mercy Park, we are going to look at what is new to the stadium in 2022. Things fans can expect to find at tomorrow’s match and the other matches throughout the 2022 campaign.
New Video Board
While every seat at Children’s Mercy Park offers an exceptional view of the action on the field, sometimes you need to turn your attention to the video board. Well, the north video board above the cauldron is going to have a new look in 2022. The board is now completely digital, increasing the opportunity for matchday coverage and content.
New Menu Items
This season, Sporting’s chefs have pulled out all the stops, revamping the menu, and making sure there’s something for everyone attending a match. At El Capitan, you will be able to find new chicken tamales, vegan sopes, a nacho box, and deep-fried tacos. Wash all that down with the brand new agua frescas in pineapple and lime-chia.
It would not be a true Kansas City event if there was no barbecue. At the American Royal concessions stand you will be able to find the pitmaster bowl filled with burnt ends, smoked turkey, baked beans, cheesy corn and cornbread. Also available at American Royal is the new pork sandwich featuring smoked pulled pork, coleslaw and a bit of a twist with a slice of pineapple on top. There are more new items around the stadium that should have your mouth watering and with seasonal menus, every game is a chance to try something new.
Revamped Premium Area
Staying on the topic of food, Children’s Mercy Park’s premium areas are getting a renovation. The UMB field club will now feature a double-sided buffet, giving fans easier access to the delicious food in the club. Up on the Audi Sport Club level, the bars have a brand-new look. With new barbacks and other redesigned looks, our bars and bartenders are ready to serve some delicious cocktails on matchdays.
Fans can come and take in the new renovations on Saturday and all throughout the season. Tickets are available at SeatGeek.com and these food items are exclusively available at Children’s Mercy Park.
