Listeners learned a few things about Daniel Salloi when the the homegrown forward joined the Sporting KC Show on Sports Radio 810 WHB.
In a Tuesday night interview with hosts Nate Bukaty and Carter Augustine, the outgoing Salloi hit on a variety of topics as Sporting KC prepares to face the Chicago Fire this Saturday at 5 p.m. CT on FOX Sports KC, FOX Sports Midwest Plus, 94.5 FM and 1480 AM.
- A natural winger, Salloi is beginning to earn more reps as a center forward, just as he did in a substitute appearance when Sporting KC faced New York City FC in Sunday's season opener. And while it's a relatively new position for him, he has confidence in finding a rhythm up top.
- Salloi likens his game to forwards overseas such as Paris-St. German's Edinson Cavani and Chelsea's Alvaro Morata — talented and technical players who rely on more than natural strength and speed to be effective.
- Salloi has kept in touch with fellow Hungarian Nemanja Nikolic, the Chicago Fire striker who won the 2017 MLS Golden Boot with 24 goals. Salloi and Nikolic will go head-to-head this weekend.
- On a more whimsical subject prompted by Bukaty, Salloi cautioned against the consumption of palinka, a traditional fruit brandy native to Hungary.
