matchmar23edits-16

The time has come to start planning in earnest for the 2025 Sporting KC season, marking the 30th year of Major League Soccer as the league expands to 30 clubs across the United States and Canada with the introduction of expansion team San Diego FC.

On Thursday, Major League Soccer released the 2025 regular season schedule, with Sporting once again set to take the field on 34 occasions. Children’s Mercy Park will play host to all 17 of the club's home matches in 2025, while the club will travel coast-to-coast for 17 road contests throughout the year. To secure your seats for the upcoming campaign, visit SportingKC.com/tickets.

The 2025 season marks not only Major League Soccer's but also Sporting Kansas City's 30th campaign as a MLS charter member, along with year three of MLS Season Pass on Apple TV with all 34 matches airing in English and Spanish on the no-blackouts service. Take a gander below for a rapid-fire rundown of Sporting's 2025 MLS regular-season schedule.

Saturday, Feb. 22 at Austin FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

While Sporting's campaign will begin four days earlier with a mouth-watering clash against Inter Miami CF in the Concacaf Champions Cup, Sporting will open the team's earliest start to an MLS regular season with a visit to Texas to face off against Austin FC at Q2 Stadium. The two teams split the series in 2024, trading barbs in a pulsating 3-2 Austin win in Texas before Sporting comfortably saw off the Verde and Black 2-0 at Children's Mercy Park.

Saturday, March 1 vs. San Jose Earthquakes | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

You may think this is a favorable matchup for Sporting's regular-season home opener, as San Jose are the reigning holders of the Wooden Spoon. However, the return of MLS legend Bruce Arena into the coaching fold and a host of changes to the roster makes this 'Quakes clash a tricky prospect at Children's Mercy Park.

Saturday, March 8 at D.C. United | 6:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting heads back to our nation's capital for the club's first visit to Audi Field since the early stages of the 2019 campaign. Led by star forward and 2024 MVP finalist Christian Benteke, a fesity and competitive D.C. side are coming off a season where they missed the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion - only failing to clinch a spot in the Wild Card Round on goal difference.

Saturday, March 15 vs. Minnesota United FC | 7 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass & FS1

Something remarkable happened toward the tail-end of the 2024 season: Minnesota United visited Children's Mercy Park were not sent packing with their tails between their legs. In an unfortunate turn of events, the Loons finally tasted victory in a regular-season match in Kansas City on their 10th attempt, with Sporting now only holding a 9-1-0 edge over Minnesota in the all-time series at Children's Mercy Park. Our first nationally televised match of the year (FS1) gives us an opportunity to extend that series lead.

Saturday, March 22 vs. Los Angeles FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

It's a rematch of the 2024 U.S. Open Cup Final where LAFC inflicted heartbreak on Sporting KC in extra time to claim their first-ever Open Cup title. Sporting will be out for revenge against a star-studded LAFC team that saw their season curtailed prematurely by an opportunistic Seattle side in the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Saturday, March 29 at FC Dallas | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting returns back to where it ended in 2024, heading to Toyota Stadium for a bout with FC Dallas for the first time since Decision Day. Dallas, now led by former Kansas City Wizard Eric Quill who enters season one of his MLS coaching journey, heads into 2025 looking to get back in the MLS Cup Playoffs following a disappointing 2024 campaign where, despite star striker Petar Musa's 16 goals, the Texans finished 11th in the West and missed the postseason by six points.

Saturday, April 5 vs. St. Louis | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

The first edition of Major League Soccer's top rivalry in 2025 arrives in early April at Children's Mercy Park where St. Louis are yet to taste victory in four attempts. Let's keep it that way.

Sunday, April 13 vs. Portland Timbers | 1 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass & FOX

Hoping for a lovely spring afternoon at Children's Mercy Park when Sporting hosts the Portland Timbers and (if he stays) MVP finalist Evander. Smartly selected for a national audience on FOX for the fourth consecutive year, this fixture typically ignites fireworks on the field with 22 goals scored in Sporting's last five home matches against the Timbers.

Saturday, April 19 at San Jose Earthquakes | 9:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting completes their season series against the 'Quakes early in 2025, heading to PayPal Park for the club's ninth match of the campaign. Sporting picked up a rare road victory in the Bay Area last season, as excellent goals from Erik Thommy and Alan Pulido sealed three points and completed a season-sweep over San Jose last July.

Saturday, April 26 at FC Cincinnati | 1:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Here's an interesting tidbit... Since FC Cincinnati entered MLS as an expansion team in 2019, they have faced Sporting on three occasions - with none taking place at Children's Mercy Park! That will not change in 2025 as Sporting heads to TQL Stadium in late April to face a tough Cincinnati side that followed up their 2023 Supporters' Shield success with a third-place finish in the East last year.

Sunday, May 4 vs. LA Galaxy | 6 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting opens the month of May with a tantilizing matchup against the reigning MLS Cup champions at Children's Mercy Park in Major League Soccer's Match of the Week. Sporting saw a six-game unbeaten run (3-0-3) against LA come to an end in 2024, as a revamped Galaxy team swept a pair of highly entertaining, and undeniably frustrating, matches 3-2 and 4-2.

Saturday, May 10 at Portland Timbers | 9:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

A trip to the Pacific Northwest is next on the docket as Sporting visits the Timbers looking to snap a six-game winless run at Providence Park dating back to 2018. Last season, Memo Rodriguez scored a memorable first goal for the club to equalize but Sporting eventually succumbed to a late 2-1 defeat.

Wednesday, May 14 at St. Louis | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass & FS1

A busy week on the road continues as Sporting heads east to take on St. Louis at newly-dubbed Energizer Park. Remember how St. Louis hasn't won a game at Children's Mercy Park? Unfortunately for them, St. Louis can't say the same about us as we all remember the 4-1 beatdown Sporting delivered on their way to sweeping the series in the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs. Let's do that again, on national television no less.

Saturday, May 17 at San Diego FC | 9:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Weren't we just on the West Coast seven days ago? Well we're back again, this time for our highly-anticipated inaugural match against 2025 expansion team San Diego FC. Led by Mexican star Chucky Lozano, San Diego - famously discovered by the Germans in 1904 - is the milestone 30th team to debut in Major League Soccer and will play their matches at Snapdragon Stadium on the campus of San Diego State University.

Saturday, May 24 vs. New England Revolution | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting returns home for the first time in 20 days to host fellow MLS charter members New England. Entering year two of their Caleb Porter and Curt Onalfo-led Revolution, the Foxborough-based club will be looking for major improvements across the board after a dismal 2024 campaign that saw them finish second-to-last in the East and miss the postseason by nine points.

Wednesday, May 28 at Los Angeles FC | 9:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Perennial Western Conference powerhouse LAFC awaits as Sporting returns to the site of last September's heartbreaking defeat in the U.S. Open Cup Final. Sporting has a history of performing well in the hostile confines of BMO Stadium, posting a 2-3-2 record at a venue where LAFC has gone 71-15-27 in their seven years of existence.

Saturday, May 31 at Houston Dynamo FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

A road-heavy May concludes with a trip south to face off against longtime rivals Houston Dynamo FC. Sporting has an excellent recent record against the Dynamo, losing just one of their last eight regular-season matches and picking up a result in each of their last three visits to Shell Energy Stadium.

Saturday, June 14 vs. FC Dallas | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Following a break for the June international window, Sporting returns home for the first of three consecutive matches at Children's Mercy Park when FC Dallas comes to town. You may remember that Sporting hosted Dallas in back-to-back matches three days apart last July in the regular season and the Open Cup, winning both matches in dramatic fashion 3-2 and 2-1.

Wednesday, June 25 vs. Charlotte FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Another inaugural matchup to look forward to in 2025! Despite entering the league as an expansion team in 2022, Charlotte FC has yet to face Sporting in their first three seasons of MLS action. That all changes in late June as the two sides meet at Children's Mercy Park. Charlotte enjoyed their best campaign to date in 2024, finishing fifth in a highly-competitive Eastern Conference.

Saturday, June 28 vs. Real Salt Lake | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Who doesn't love summer nights at Children's Mercy Park? For the second successive year, Real Salt Lake pays a June visit to Kansas City in what is likely to be a steamy affair as this heated rivalry takes center stage. It's been 12 years since Sporting's memorable victory over RSL in the 2013 MLS Cup, but make no mistake about it - these teams and fanbases do not like each other.

Friday, July 4 at Colorado Rapids | 8:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Weren't we just here for Independence Day? Indeed, for the second year running Sporting returns to Dick's Sporting Goods Park for a July 4 showdown. Commerce City, Colorado has proven to be a house of horrors for Sporting through the years, as the team has not won at DSGP in their last 11 visits dating back to 2014. Last year, a stoppage-time penalty allowed the Rapids to complete a 2-1 comeback victory before their annual fireworks display.

Saturday, July 12 vs. Seattle Sounders FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

One of the league's greatest organic rivalries of recent years resumes in July as Sporting hosts Seattle at Children's Mercy Park. Fresh off the back of their involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup, the Sounders will be looking to fight and win at a venue where they've won as much as they've lost (6-6-2). In last season's fixture, Alenis Vargas struck late to seal a 2-1 come-from-behind victory for Sporting.

Saturday, July 19 vs. New York City FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

One of just six matches against an Eastern Conference foe in 2025, NYCFC pays their first visit to Children's Mercy Park since the 2018 season opener. While NYC claimed a 2-0 victory that night, an undeterred Sporting team went on to enjoy a terrific campaign - finishing first in the West with an 18-8-8 record.

Saturday, July 26 at Vancouver Whitecaps FC | 9:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

For the first time in recent history, we won't see the striking image of Vanni Sartini on the sidlines for the Whitecaps. The headline-grabbing coach departed Vancouver this offseason and it remains to be seen who will be manning the technical area when Sporting heads back to BC Place in July - a venue where Sporting has posted a respectable 5-5-3 record through the years.

Saturday, Aug. 9 vs. San Diego FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting opens the month of August by welcoming expansion side San Diego FC to Children's Mercy Park for the very first time. Throughout the club’s history, Sporting has gone 21-10-10 against teams in the midst of their expansion season and have gone 14-3-1 in their first-ever home match against expansion teams - most recently beating St. Louis at Children's Mercy Park in 2023.

Saturday, Aug. 16 at Orlando City SC | 6:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

En-route to a fourth-place finish in the East and advancing to the Conference Final in 2024, Orlando City were roundly beaten by a 10-man Sporting KC side 3-0 last August at Children's Mercy Park. In fact, the last three meetings between the two sides have all come in Kansas City and Sporting is set to visit to Inter&Co Stadium for the first time in six years when they head to Florida on Aug. 16 - almost six years to the day since the club's last trip to Orlando on Aug. 14, 2019.

Sunday, Aug. 24 at Seattle Sounders FC | 8 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass & FS1

It's back to the Pacific Northwest and Lumen Field as August ticks on, visiting a tough Seattle outfit that are coming off a season where they reached the Western Conference Final before being eliminated by eventual champions the LA Galaxy in a tight 1-0 affair. Sporting has enjoyed plenty of recent success at Lumen Field, winning four of their last six visits dating back to 2019.

Saturday, Aug. 30 vs. Colorado Rapids | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting closes out August with a home bout against the Rapids in a clash of Concacaf Champions Cup sides. While Colorado were much improved in 2024, it did not prevent Chris Armas' side from suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of Sporting at Children's Mercy Park, as doubles from Alan Pulido and Erik Thommy extended Sporting's dominant home record against the Rapids to 24-7-6.

Saturday, Sept. 7 vs. Austin FC | 6 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting welcomes a new-look Austin to Children's Mercy Park in Major League Soccer’s Match of the Week. Following the departure of Sporting Legend Josh Wolff as head coach, Austin will enter a new era in 2025 under Nico Estevez - who retained another member of Sporting's Hall of Honor, Davy Arnaud, on his staff.

Saturday, Sept. 13 at Real Salt Lake | 8:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

A late season trip to America First Field, you say? Worked out well for Sporting in 2023 when the visitors claimed a chaotic 3-2 victory on the penultimate week of the season on their way to sneaking into the postseason on Decision Day. RSL, who set a club record with 59 points in 2024, remain a tricky proposition at home as Sporting has enjoyed just two road victories across their last 12 visits to Sandy, Utah.

Saturday, Sept. 20 vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

The regular season continues to wind down as Sporting hosts the reigning Canadian Championship winners Whitecaps in the club's second-to-last home match of the season. Sporting holds a dominant 7-3-2 mark at home against Vancouver through the years, but have fallen in two of the last three fixtures at Children's Mercy Park in 2022 and 2024.

Saturday, Sept. 27 at LA Galaxy | 9:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting heads to the West Coast the final weekend in September to do battle with the champs. It's a daunting fixture, no doubt, but Sporting has reasons for optimism as the club has gone 7-4-7 against the Galaxy since midway through the 2015 campaign, including a winning 3-2-3 mark at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Saturday, Oct. 4 at Minnesota United FC | 7:30 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

One final chance for a Roadron during the 2025 regular season as Sporting makes the quick jaunt north to take on the Loons at Allianz Field to close out the club's away slate. Sporting has won just twice in 10 matches in St. Paul - most recently a famous 1-0 victory in the tail end of the 2023 campaign.

Saturday, Oct. 18 vs. Houston Dynamo FC | 8 p.m. CT | MLS Season Pass

Sporting concludes the 2025 regular season with a Decision Day bout against the Dynamo at Children's Mercy Park. Led by hard-nosed coach Ben Olsen, Houston have enjoyed a renaissance over the last two seasons, qualifying for the MLS Cup Playoffs both years following a five-year hiatus from the postseason. Houston reached the Western Conference Final in 2023 on the back of a controversial victory over Sporting in the Semifinals, so if this match has any playoff implications you better believe there will be some extra motivation on the field and in the stands for the Sporting faithful.
