Throughout the month of October, the
Sporting Club Network
presented by Price Chopper and the
Victory Project
hosted a series of collection drives in order to gather new or gently-worn soccer gear as part of the fall
Recycle Your Game
campaign. The initiative seeks to provide youth players in underserved communities with the proper equipment they need to play and enjoy the game. Fans attending Sporting Kansas City home matches and events throughout the metropolitan area were encouraged to donate gear in an effort to achieve the program’s mission.
The campaign culminated in late October when nearly 80 participants of El Padrino Soccer League, Northeast Soccer Club and K.C. C.L.E.A.T.S. attended a clinic featuring Sporting Kansas City players and coaches. Thanks to the support of Kansas City Power & Light, the presenting partner of El Padrino, each participant was able to go home with a cinch bag, soccer ball, shinguards and a pair of donated cleats.
“El Padrino Soccer League is very happy that Sporting KC and KCP&L were able to donate soccer gear to our kids,” said El Padrino Director Raul Villegas. “We’re also very thankful for the clinic that was held for them. Our players were able to learn the fundamentals of soccer from Sporting Kansas City coaches and play with professional players. Thank you Sporting Kansas City and KCP&L for helping the youth in our community.”
