Sporting Kansas City defender Andreu Fontas has played every minute of the 2021 season thus far. He leads MLS is pass attempts, successful passes and touches. Operating under the radar, he has been on of the club's most consistent performers to begin the campaign.
But not everything has come easy for the 31-year-old Fontas, who spent the early stages of his professional career at FC Barcelona competing with the Likes of Lionel Messi, David Villa, Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol. Injuries have played a palpable role during his stint at Sporting, but with many of those obstacles behind him, the Spaniard looks poised for his first true breakout year in Major League Soccer.
