The Sporting KC Academy off the 2014-15 MLS Generation adidas Cup in impressive fashion last weekend, defeating the Chicago Fire and the Houston Dynamo to take a perfect record into the second phase of the tournament.

Similar to 2013, the Generation adidas Cup will be held in three phases. The first two are regional, with Kansas City hosting Chicago, Houston, Colorado Rapids, Columbus Crew and FC Dallas at Swope Soccer Village, last weekend. Those same teams will travel to Houston to February for the second phase of the tournament, with the final leg - with all MLS teams - held in Dallas in April.

The Sporting KC U-17s defeated Chicago 4-0 and came-from-behind to defeat Houston 2-1 last weekend. Four different players scored in the opening match with Felipe Hernandez, Adam Collinsworth, Jared Crist and John Leisman providing the goals against Chicago. Leisman scored his second goal of the tournament in a 2-1 win over Houston, with Absalom Solorio providing the other tally.

The U-17s concluded their weekend with a friendly against FC Dallas, falling 4-1 on Monday. After the first phase of the tournament, Sporting KC leads the group with six points, with FC Dallas in second place with five points.

The Sporting KC U-14s and U-12s were also in action last weekend against their MLS counterparts. The U-14s defeated Colorado 5-2 before falling to the Fire 3-2. Max Rugova scored a hat trick and Abdu Kikhia scored twice in the win against Colorado. The U-12s played a 7v7 tournament on Saturday and an 11v11 tournament on Sunday.

USSDA games continue this weekend in Kansas City when Sporting KC hosts the Texas Rush at Swope Soccer Village. The Sporting KC U-18s will kick off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, while the U-16s will kick off at 11:30 a.m.
