Sporting Club and the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial will host the second annual Truce Tournament on Dec. 26.

The Kansas City soccer community is invited to participate in the 3v3 tournament that will be played on Liberty Hill and attend an English Premier League Watch Party inside the National WWI Museum.

Following a tradition that began last December, the Truce Tournament on Boxing Day will be structured as a World Cup-style competition with teams beginning play in a round-robin group stage. The top 1-2 teams from each group will advance to single-elimination knockout rounds.

Between playing games, participants will have plenty of entertaining options inside the National WWI Museum. All guests can take part in the EPL Watch Party as English soccer continues its long tradition of playing matches on Boxing Day, while being treated to complimentary kegs & eggs breakfast.

Teams that enter the Truce Tournament are assured at least 2-3 games. Each registered player will receive a tournament t-shirt, a pass to the National WWI Museum and an EPL Watch Party ticket, which includes the access to the kegs and eggs breakfast and multiple viewing locations for all televised EPL matches. Registration is $210 per team.

This year’s Truce Tournament comes on the 100th Anniversary of World War I and pays homage to the time-honored story of the Christmas Truce. According to legend, WWI battles temporarily ceased around Christmas 1914 as members of both warring armies ventured into No Man’s Land to exchange gifts, sing carols and play soccer.

Registration for the event is now open at www.TheTruceKC.com.
