It truly was a weeklong experience for the Sporting Club Network when the MLS All Stars came to Kansas City. While the gameday itself (packed with a halftime fireworks show that would rival any 4th of July celebration) provided plenty of entertainment, almost every day brought something new and different to the Network and its wide array of members.
The week kicked off with Sporting KC’s Kyle Miller and the SCN staff road-tripping up to Lincoln, NE, for the first-ever Lincoln Watch Party. The event included an on-field clinic, Chipotle catering, a Watch Party for that night’s Sporting KC game and was attended by over 150 members of Academy Affiliates Sporting Lincoln FC and Omaha FC.
Once back in KC, things only got busier with SCN staff helping with the conclusion of the US Youth National Soccer tournament and management of the Volkswagen MLS ASG tournament, both at the Overland Park Soccer Complex. Then, a day after experiencing the exciting Macklemore concert at the Kansas City Power & Light District, the SCN helped MLS WORKS officially open our brand new futsal courts at Wyandotte High School. As MLSSoccer.com mentioned in their wrap-up of the event, a team from our newest Network member, El Padrino, even ended up winning the day’s tournament & got a chance to meet the MLS All Stars. A few days later, after attending the MLS All-Star Game at Sporting Park, the SCN were back on those same courts with an exclusive group of members and an unforgettable chance to get coached by Sporting Legends Tony Meola and Preki.
