Sporting Kansas City Academy alum Alex Sweetin (No. 94) was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's preseason Top 100 men's college soccer player rankings on Tuesday. The Overland Park, Kan. native and Rockhurst High School graduate enters his senior season with the Billikens in 2013 having contributed 11 goals and 15 assists since joining the program in 2009. The two-way midfielder earned A-10 Rookie of the Year honors following his freshman campaign, among other honors in his collegiate career to date:
- A-10 All-Rookie Team and Rookie of the Year (2009)
- NSCAA All-Region Third Team (2009)
- A-10 All-Conference Second Team (2010, 2012)
Sweetin is joined on SLU's squad by fellow Sporting KC Academy product Raymond Lee. The Kansas City, Mo. native and Park Hill High School graduate enters his junior season with eight goals and one assist over the past two years.
The Billikens are defending Atlantic 10 Champions, winning their fifth conference title since 2005, and are ranked No. 10 in the nation in the 2013 College Soccer News Preseason Poll.
