Sporting KC Academy forward Gianluca Busio has been called in to the U.S. Under-15 National Team’s first training camp of the year, running from Jan. 6-13 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
The U.S. U-15s will play one game during the camp, taking place on Monday afternoon against Liga MX side Club Tijuana’s Under-17 team at the Olympic Training Center.
The inclusion is Busio’s second with the U.S. U-15s, having taken part in the team’s final training camp of 2016 from Nov. 5-12 in Bradenton, Fla.
The 14-year-old, who moved to Kansas City from Greensboro, N.C. in the fall, has scored six goals in 10 appearances while splitting time between the Sporting KC U-16s and U-14s in the 2016-17 Development Academy season.
Busio made two appearances for Sporting KC at the U-17 Generation adidas Cup tournament in early October, converting his penalty kick in a victorious shootout against the Chicago Fire on Oct. 7 at Swope Soccer Village.
