Sporting Kansas City's Under-14 Academy team were crowned champions of Kansas State Cup on Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over Dodge City Soccer Association DC Bull's at the Overland Park Soccer Complex. Abdu Kikhia scored the game-winning goal to qualify the U14's for the Region II Championships in Dayton, Ohio from June 20-25.
The U14's went 2-0-1 in the group stage to finish in first place of Bracket A with seven points before advancing to the final with a 3-1 win over Sporting Blue Valley in the semifinal stage.

The 2014 Region II Championships is one of four regional tournaments that will qualify teams for the US Youth Soccer National Championships from the U13 through U19 age divisions. Region II consists of teams from 14 State Associations across the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin).
Sporting Kansas City's Under-12 Academy squad fell in the final of the U13 division on Tuesday in a 2-0 loss to Sporting Blue Valley, a Sporting Club Network Academy Affiliate.
