Sporting Kansas City announced the club’s full 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup schedule on Friday. Sporting KC will play four matches at the annual tournament in Tucson, Arizona, during the side’s second leg of preseason, presented by Children's Mercy, from February 9-25.
Sporting KC will open the tournament on February 14 with a matchup against the New York Red Bulls at 12 p.m. CT before facing tournament hosts Phoenix Rising FC on February 17 at 4 p.m. CT. Peter Vermes’ side will next take on the New England Revolution on February 21 at 12 p.m. CT ahead of a placement game on February 24 (time TBD).
Other MLS clubs participating in the event include Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, LA Galaxy, New England Revolution, Portland Timbers, New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders FC.
The 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup marks the eighth straight year in which Sporting KC will travel to Tucson for preseason matches. The club will spend both phases of the 2018 preseason in Arizona, reporting to Scottsdale from January 22 through February 3 prior to the second leg in Tucson.
Sporting KC’s preseason schedule for the first leg of preseason in Scottsdale will be announced at a later date.
