Sporting Kansas City defender Aurelien Collin is expected to miss one to two weeks while recovering from two facial fractures suffered on Wednesday during the 2012 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, the club announced Thursday. The 26-year-old Frenchman started and played 36 minutes in the MLS All-Stars 3-2 win over Chelsea FC at PPL Park, exiting the match after a collision with Michael Essien near midfield.
Collin has started all 21 regular season matches this season, helping lead the Sporting Kansas City defense to nine shutouts and an MLS-best 0.90 goals against average. In his second MLS season, he’s contributed three goals and one assist in 2012.
Sporting Kansas City will host Eastern Conference counterparts Columbus Crew at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The match, sponsored by Roma Bakery and Johnsonville, will be broadcast live on KSMO-TV and tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com or at the LSP Box Offices.
