Ahead of Sporting Kansas City's weekend Westen Conference clash with Nashville SC, Sporting KC defender Kortne Ford appeared on The Nutmeg Podcast with Rob Brenton. The duo covered a wide array of topics from Ford's MLS debut, to the current season at hand.
On The Nutmeg Podcast, Ford began the show by talking about his experience growing up in Olathe, Kansas as a Kansas City Wizards fan. He spoke about going to matches at Arrowhead Stadium and then not being able to go to many at Children's Mercy Park after moving to Colorado.
Brenton then asked Ford about his MLS debut, which ironically he made at Children's Mercy Park, against Sporting KC as a member of the Colorado Rapids. Ford then made his Sporting debut on March 12 at Colorado in front of many of his family members.
The next topic of conversation was the current, 2022 MLS regular season. Ford discussed the team's success at home and how the squad is still building chemistry following the tricky offseason.
Ford then dove into his inspirations and who he models his play after. He mentioned watching Sporting KC II assistant and former MLS Defender of the Year Ike Opara when he was growing up and mimicking his play after him. Ford touched on his goal to reach that level and one day become one of the best defenders in the league.
After Ford hopped off the call Brenton gave his takes on the U.S. Men's National Team 2022 FIFA World Cup draw.
