Sporting Kansas City enters the 2017 MLS SuperDraft on Friday with the No. 14 pick in the first round. The first two rounds of the draft in Los Angeles will be streamed live on MLSsoccer.com beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
Currently without a selection in the second and fourth rounds, Sporting Kansas City holds the No. 58 overall pick in the third round. The third and fourth rounds of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft will be conducted via conference call next Tuesday, Jan. 17. The draft tracker on MLSsoccer.com will provide instant updates as each draft pick is announced.
Veteran players on Sporting Kansas City’s current roster who were acquired via the MLS SuperDraft include captain and defender Matt Besler (2009), winger Graham Zusi (2009), midfielder Roger Espinoza (2008) and forward Dom Dwyer (2012). Click here for Sporting Kansas City’s entire draft history.
Sporting Kansas City will kick off the team's 22nd season on March 4 at D.C. United, a match that will be televised on FOX Sports Kansas City. Click here for the team's full 2017 MLS schedule.
Before then, the club will travel to Tucson, Arizona for the club’s 2017 preseason, presented by Children’s Mercy. Sporting KC will first report to Tucson from Jan. 23 – Feb. 7 before returning for the Desert Diamond Cup from Feb. 15-25.
