Sporting Kansas City passed on its pick in the 2018 MLS Waiver Draft on Wednesday.
Twenty-one of 24 MLS clubs elected to pass during the Waiver Draft, which consisted of players who had been waived by their teams but didn’t meet the minimum years of service requirement for the Re-Entry Draft or Free Agency.
LAFC selected forward Ricky Lopez-Espin, the New York Red Bulls picked midfielder Marcus Epps, and the Chicago Fire took midfielder Cristian Martinez and forward Marco Urena. Players not selected are now free to sign with the team of their choice.
Sporting Kansas City currently has 23 players under contract for the 2019 season:
Goalkeepers (3): Eric Dick, Tim Melia, Adrian Zendejas
Defenders (8): Matt Besler, Andreu Fontas, Jaylin Lindsey, Jimmy Medranda, Ike Opara, Seth Sinovic, Graham Smith, Graham Zusi
Midfielders (6): Gianluca Busio, Yohan Croizet, Roger Espinoza, Felipe Gutierrez, Ilie Sanchez, Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal
Forwards (6): Gerso Fernandes, Tyler Freeman, Krisztian Nemeth, Diego Rubio, Johnny Russell, Daniel Salloi
