Sporting Kansas City has recalled defender Saad Abdul-Salaam from his loan spell with the San Antonio Scorpions, the club announced on Tuesday. Abdul-Salaam will be available for selection on Wednesday when Sporting Kansas City hosts the New England Revolution at 7 p.m. CT at Sporting Park.
Abdul-Salaam has started five matches for the reigning North American Soccer League champions while on loan, including starts in back-to-back victories in the last two weeks. The 23-year-old rookie was selected 12th overall in the first round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Akron, where he scored three goals and added 12 assists in 54 games over three seasons.
Sporting KC (3-2-5, 6th place) will host 2014 MLS Cup runners-up New England Revolution (5-2-4, 2nd place) at 7 p.m. CT tomorrow in a nationally televised match on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes. A limited number of tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com and the first 10,000 fans inside Sporting Park will receive sunglasses courtesy of Sabates Eye Centers.
