Sporting KC Show Podcast: Club legend Tony Meola and ESPN FC's Tom Marshall highlight busy episode

Running throughout the season on Sports Radio 810 WHB, the Sporting Kansas City Show is available on several podcast hubs including Spotify and iTunes as well as SportingKC.com/SportingKCShow. With Nate Bukaty, Carter Augustine and Aly Trost hosting the weekly program, Sporting fans have a place to go to catch up on club storylines, guest interviews and more.

A crucial week in which Manager Peter Vermes’ side plays twice at Children’s Mercy Park called for two high-profile guests on the newest episode of the Sporting Kansas City Show, which debuted Tuesday night on Sports Radio 810 WHB.

Fresh off a 2-1 road win over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, Sporting has returned home to host a pair of Eastern Conference opponents for the first time this season. First up is a battle with Chicago Fire FC tonight at 7:30 p.m. CT, with tickets available at SeatGeek.com and live coverage on FOX Sports Kansas City, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports GO and Sports Radio 810 WHB.

To preview the encounter, hosts Nate Bukaty, Carter Augustine and Aly Trost welcomed Sporting Legend and current Chicago color commentator Tony Meola, who not only reminisced about his playing days in Kansas City but provided a comprehensive scouting report on a Fire FC squad that has collected seven points from its previous three matches.

Tonight’s clash comes four days before Sporting and expansion side Nashville SC partake in their inaugural meeting at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sunday. And while Sporting appears to be well-positioned to take points from both games this week, they’ll have to do so without one of their best players.

Striker Alan Pulido, who struck twice at Houston en route to landing MLS Player of the Week honors, has joined the Mexico Men’s National Team for friendlies today against the Netherlands and Oct. 13 versus Algeria. To discuss the matchups and the potential impact Pulido may have on a star-studded El Tri outfit led by head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino, the hosts heard from ESPN FC contributor and Mexican National Team correspondent Tom Marshall.

In addition to reflecting on Pulido’s recent form and his return to El Tri for the first time in two years, Marshall talked about Mexico’s expectations for the versatile forward and what it will take for the 29-year-old to cement his spot within the team moving forward.
