Hernandez, 24, enjoyed a happy homecoming this past weekend when he scored his first goal of the 2022 season against his hometown club Nashville SC as Sporting claimed the team's first road win of the season with a 2-1 victory at GEODIS Park on Sunday.
Hernandez was born in Colombia but moved to Nashville as a one-year-old and spent much of his formative years in the Music City before arriving in Kansas City as a 15-year-old to join the Sporting KC Academy. Hernandez not only marked his homecoming with Sporting's longest goal of the season but did so on Father’s Day with his dad amongst a group of family and friends in the crowd to support him.
