Sporting KC Show Podcast: Nate Bukaty and Jacob Peterson talk KC2026 and SKCvRBNY

This week's edition of the Sporting KC Show aired on Sports Radio 810 WHB on Tuesday as hosts Nate Bukaty and Jacob Peterson looked ahead to the club's cross-conference clash with the New York Red Bulls at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday at Children's Mercy Park and talked KC2026 with Sporting KC Director of Communications Kurt Austin.

Sunday's showdown will be a rematch of the 2017 U.S. Open Cup Final and features two of the three teams that have booked berths in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals on July 27. Sporting Kansas City will travel to take on USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC while New York awaits the winner of tonight's quarterfinal match-up between Nashville SC and Orlando City SC.

The Red Bulls, who have qualified for the playoffs each of the last 11 years, are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference and will be looking for a fifth straight home when when they host Atlanta United FC on Thursday at Red Bull Arena before traveling to Kansas City.

Sunday's match will mark the return of Sporting's annual Americana theme night featuring post-match fireworks on the eve of Independence Day. Tickets, including the Americana Pack and the Coca-Cola Family & Friends Pack, are available on SeatGeek  as Sporting KC plays the 200th MLS match at Children's Mercy Park on a night in which Peter Vermes will coach his 500th game for the club in all competitions.

SKCvRBNY will be locally televised on 38 The Spot with three hours of coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sunday. The broadcast will also stream live on SportingKC.com and in the Sporting KC app for viewers in Kansas and Missouri (excluding the St. Louis area per MLS policy), as well as ESPN+ for out-of-market subscribers. Local radio broadcasts will also air on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM.
